“We were referred to MK Building Solutions by a colleague after the renovation of our children’s bathroom by a “leading” bathroom renovation company was a little more than average. “My wife and I found MK Building Solutions purely by chance through a recommendation of a friend of our building designer. Since we only ever use trades and services recommended to us through people we trust, we were keen to give MK Building Solutions the opportunity to tender for our house extension. MK Building Solutions is extremely professional, and has been throughout the whole process, from prompt responses to emails to taking the time to explain the technical minutiae of the building process when we had a question, though to working closely with us to get our specifications just right to minimise future variations. Once the administrative side of the planning process was complete, MK’s team started work, and wow, were we surprised at how fast things happened! In a week, they had completed the necessary demolition, cleared the portion of the site that needed clearing and poured the new foundations. This amazing pace was only slowed over the Christmas shutdown, not because MK’s team took a break but because they could not get the materials to continue working. This efficiently continued throughout the whole building process, only ever slowed down when waiting for a delivery of materials we had bought for the site. A personal suggestion to anyone considering building with MK, choose your fittings and fixtures early because they will be needed sooner than you think!!! The whole build was completed, barring a couple of minor tidy-ups, in 24 weeks, which was amazing when you look at the work completed in our project. While speed is nice, our primary drivers were cost and quality. We wanted the best possible product for the money we had to spend, and MK delivered this. While we did have a few variations, they were all items that improved the final finish of the build, which, ultimately, we are delighted to spend that little bit extra. Would we use MK Building Solutions again? Absolutely. Do we recommend them to friends, family and people we meet on the street? Constantly. MK Building is a rare gem in the building industry. We chose to work on a cost-plus basis because I like the fairness of it if you have honest people.

After a couple of months, I decided to raise Marco’s margin because he was doing a good job with excellent suggestions that saved us money and improved the position.

He warned me that perhaps I should reconsider because we were coming into an expensive part of the job. His warning typified his great attitude, and I felt great to be able to pay more than the initial agreed amount in our contract. I don’t think many people would do that, and it reflects how impressed we were on so many different levels.
